It is of the utmost importance that every vested interest of monarchy succumb without complaint to the national benefit. The demagogic pesonality-cult and byzantinism must be done away with. The very existence of the Nation, of our army so heroically sacrificing itself, of the life of the working people -the burdens of which constantly increase- are at stake. Greece is the creation of the spirit, the toils and the struggles of its children. It is not a royalist fief. And it cannot be tolerated that the least part of it be sacrificed for the benefit of the vested interests of royalty".
