The fairy tale "The Good and the Bad Girl" is the first of the series "Folklore fairy tales and storytellers from Asia Minor" and comes from Halicarnassus of Asia Minor. They brought it with them the Greek refugees who ?after the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922? settled at New Halicarnassus at Heracleion of Crete. Its heroes include a good orphan girl, her evil stepmother with her jealous daughter, a prince, a wise she-dragon, but also a jasmine, an olive and a carob.

The fairy tale is a medium through which the reader can approach an important part of our cultural wealth, the fairy tales of the Asia Minor Greeks, and to learn through them the history of the people who created them and the areas in which they were conceived. At the same time, within the vast material of children's literature, where second and third-hand adaptations of Greek and foreign fairy tales are published, this fairy tale can become once again the thread that leads to the popular storytellers of old, who carry in their memory the valuable heritage of our folklore tradition.
