But this is not the case here. Do we possess heavy industry ? Do we
have large labour unions ? No, we don't. The future here -and everywhere-
will probably be Socialist. It will reach Greece though with a certain delay. Meanwhile things need to be done.
This need is acknowledged by all, workers and capitalists, men and women alike.
We all acknowledge as essential the existence of the institution of monarchy in this country.
As long as certain among us will not acknowledge this, which is out of the question,
as long as certain among us would consider essential the establishment of a Republic, the
existence of a Republican party would be possible. But no such people exist for the time being.
[...] Parties create programme divisions; disagreements
in the manner of Administration. The parties must compete concerning this as to
which will suggest and impose the best solutions for the improvement of the army, the fleet, transportation,
finance, education, Justice.
There is a consensus as concerns fundamental issues. As long as there is no disagreement
in the fundamentals, do you wish to create it? As long as there are no substantial
conflicting interests of groups and groups, how do you wish for parties representing
these groups to emerge?
